Lindsay Whittle - a voice for Caerphilly

Lindsay Whittle is a lifelong champion of Caerphilly and its communities, deeply rooted in the town’s working-class heritage. Raised on the Penyrheol council estate, Lindsay’s upbringing in a caring and principled family shaped the values he continues to uphold in public life.

His parents, determined to give Lindsay and his sister a better life, instilled in them a strong sense of social justice and community spirit. Their stories of living in a shared council house in Trecenydd left a lasting impression on Lindsay, fuelling his commitment to fairness, dignity, and opportunity for all.

Lindsay’s political journey has always been grounded in his community. He has served Caerphilly with distinction as a councillor, always guided by the belief that politics should serve ordinary people and strengthen communities.

His connection to Caerphilly is not just political—it’s personal. He attended Cwm Ifor Primary School and has remained actively involved in supporting the school and its pupils over the years. For over 22 years, he ran the local youth club voluntarily, helping generations of young people find purpose and belonging.

His family’s history is interwoven with the region’s industrial past. Lindsay’s great-grandfather, Evan Hopcyn James, was tragically killed in the Senghenydd Mining Disaster of 1913. Evan had served on the Disaster Committee following the earlier explosion in 1900—a legacy Lindsay has honoured through his own involvement with the committee, supporting local students with their education.

Lindsay Whittle stands as a passionate advocate for Caerphilly’s people, especially those from its council estates and working-class communities. His record is one of integrity, service, and unwavering pride in his hometown. As a potential member of the Senedd, Lindsay pledges to be a voice for ordinary people—never forgetting where he came from, and always fighting for a fairer future.
