There are four candidates contesting the Van ward by-election to fill a vacancy on Caerphilly County Borough Council on Thursday, February 19.
The Plaid Cymru candidate is Jeff Grenfell and there are also candidates from Labour, the Liberal Democrats and Reform.
There’s also an election for the Van Community Council with a straight fight between Plaid Cymru’s Alison Vyas and Reform in the Porset ward.
The by-elections were triggered by the passing of Councillor Christine Forehead.
Following Lindsay Whittle’s stunning victory over Reform in the Caerphilly Senedd By-election, these two votes are set to turn into another contest between Plaid Cymru, the Party of Wales and candidates from the ex-Tory laden right wing party.
Plaid Cymru also beat Reform into second place in the recent Penyrheol council by-election in Caerphilly County.
